When you have Gangster Squad mixed with euro goth aesthetic you will have Alexander Mcqueen’s fall/winter 2013 collection. The collection has taken some of the traditional pinstripe suits on a different route. Opposed to your “conventional” vertical pinstripes, the suit were introduced in a slight horizontal manner with color block knits and outerwear. The geometric designed garments were also an eye-catching experience, which Sarah Burton gave another way to incorporate classical pieces with a modern approach we haven’t seen.
This was a resort collection which raised my eye brow (in a good way). I totally appreciate the juxtaposition Sarah Burton (creative director of Alexander Mcqueen) has done with this 2013 collection. I love the contrast piping in the women’s blazers while high waist trousers were shown throughout the collection. Beautiful textures of metallic gold and silver embossed from the daywear to evening wear. The evening wear was perhaps my favorite because of ageless appeal the garments delivered. On the other hand, the collection gives me a more mature collection (i.e. Carolina Herrera). Naturally, fashion is not always for the young and vibrant. Lets just call this collection, sophisticated.
Presenting the lookbook for the upcoming fall/winter collection for Alexander McQueen’s diffusion line, McQ. from the previous collection, the label has taken a different take. Flaming hot red garments, tartan plaid and Cropped and fitted traditional fall essentials (i.e. Parkas, peacoats, etc) provides a contemporary edge.
Alexander McQueen‘s diffusion line, McQ, has embraced the rockabilly aesthetic for their spring/summer collection. The key items in this collection are the oxford shoes, rebel leather jacket, and the baseball jacket, and the skinny suit. Kinda squarish, but I am sure someone can get their Bruno Mars swag with it!
Jourdan Dunn, Lily Donaldson, Cara Delevingne, and Nyasha Matonhodze are featured inthe upcoming January issue of W magazine. Talk about an elite group of models in one shoots rocking some of the labels in the game such as Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Yves St. Laurent, and Louis Vuitton.
One thing I do appreciate about W magazine is their editorial shoots. Naturally, its every fashion magazine’s job to project the finest aesthetics. Its great to see it being delivered from another perspective every now and again.
Paris Fashion was last week. This is the last collection from the late Alexander McQueen (R.I.P.). There were 16 pieces, but this collection is simply surreal! His creativity and attention to detail is 2nd to none. Wonder who is going to take the throne.
