Kick the Hype

vogueGivenchy designer Riccardo Tiscwent on instagram straight flexing with his sneaker collaboration with Nike for Vogue Magazine (styled by Grace Coddington). Pictured with supermodel,Joan Smalls draped across his shoulders was a kodak moment. Granted the photo of the Vogue‘s editorial wasn’t clear as expected. Needless to say, it was enough for the hypebeasts to start saying their tax money for the highly anticipated sneaker. The Air Force 1 Hi Boots would be retailing for $225 at select Nike stores. It appears Nike is not ready to play nice with the folks after Kanye dunked on them during his recent interviews. I find it hard to believe the two (Yeezy and Tisci) don’t discuss the athletic company of their sudden decision. At the end of the day, they are not going to break a friendship regards to a cooperation. It wouldn’t surprise me if the sneaker is launched around the same time as Kanye’s sneaker with Adidas. Only time will time.

Nike Free 5.0 TR Jon “Bones” Jones Edition

Nike has released a special edition of its Free 5.0 TR for current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones, who just signed with the sports brand last summer. Designed to give the wearer greater freedom of movement thanks to its ultra flexible build, it was only natural that these two parties would find a match with the Free 5.0 TR. The shoes feature a predominantly tonal black upper marked by an interwoven pattern and contrasting Gym Red accents on the outsole, and “Bones” and “Jones” printed on the tongues. A subtle but integral element is the pink that lines the edges of the woven bands, allowing them to pop out from the body of the shoe. Priced at $105 USD, the shoes and an accompanying T-shirt can be found at select Nike outlets as well on .

Despite the great design, I don’t see how this is considered as “functional”. Are going to see more martial arts (or mixed martial artists) with sneaker launches. Are there going to be used inside of the pentagon? Afterall, the sneaker is made for Jon Jones and he is a fighter! I love the fact Nike has taken the step to curate sleek footwear, which I would hope they would be able to design apparel for other sport martial arts styles (i.e. sport karate, Tae Kwon Do,  wrestling, etc.).

Home Skate Shop

The other day I stepped out to Home skate shop just on some future networking. Although this is a skateboard store, but I seriously would not sleep on their sneakers!! They provide some of the most exclusive shoes in the city, which is a plus if you are not trying to get any shoes from the mall.

Browsing the shoes around the store, God has answered to my prayers! I found the dunks which featured the Street Fighter characters, Ryu (I posted a blog last month) and Chun Li in the blue. They had my size and it was heaven on earth! If you counting on getting Supras or Nike Dunks not in the stores, Home Skate Shop is your place to go!

well some of you out there who are sneaker heads may have already been informed on the Street Fighter/Nike collab. I had to address this to the other realm of people out there on this brilliant idea! The Nike Dunk Mid top (Ryu) sneaker captures the characterization of the Capcom character.

This shoe’s texture is equivalent to your traditional Karate gi. Nike ensured the shoe’s fabric would symbolizes the iconic uniform while leaving the swoosh like the bandanna, red. I love how they didn’t exaggerate the shoe with miscellaneous elements, kept the realism of a classic shoe.

These kicks are definitely sweeping the shelves and I am praying to get me a pair.  For you out there who are dying to get them, we are in the same boat lol!! osu!
