This past weekend, I met up with a colleague (my photographer) and one of my close martial arts friend whose modeling on a photoshoot for my upcoming t-shirt label, Xiaolin Lotus. I don’t want to give out too much information (Instead, there will be more material at the end); however, I must say it was a great success! All events does not go according to plan. One of the models was not able to show up. Besides on certain circumstances, I was not happy how unprofessional it was. Needless to say, it was a blessing in disguise because the shoot was in and out! Afterwards it was great to catch up with them and express my gratitude for helping out of the two things I am passionate about, martial arts and fashion!
I seriously love working with Renesha (the photographer). She is probably one of the most humble and open-minded people I have ever met. This is perhaps our 4th projekt together. Our artistic chemistry is always head on. It’s almost like finishing someone’s sentence. Challenging ones creativity in friendly competitive way. Her artistic ability is increasing at a progressive pace. Can’t wait to show everyone what is next!
For the cover of VMAN’s 2012 fall issue, NFL quarterback for the New England Patriots and Gisele Bundchen’s husband Tom Brady dons a Zegna tux, faces a snarling rottweiler, and bares his inner man to Tom Ford. In a remote interview with the fashion icon, Brady sheds some light on his style and sensitive side. Offered below is an excerpt of the piece, while the interview in its entirety can be viewed here.
All of the fashionistas out there have been aware of the documentary of the iconic and great Tom Ford. OWN’s full-length footage highlighting world-renowned fashion designer and film director Tom Ford is now available. The documentary captures the everyday life of Tom Ford. Highly known for his incredible work in the fashion industry, He is also a Oscar Nominated director as well. Peep the video to view Tom Ford’s inspirations and more!
Former fashion designer of Dior, John Galliano, virtually commited career suicide for his anti-Semitic remarks to a couple in France. His unforgettable statements has not only lead a viral fashion frenzy, but also a horde of angry/disappointed supporters. This was a extremely difficult decision for Dior to make. However, the behavior exposed in public could not be tolerated which lead to his departure.
Galliano’s departure has led to numerous speculations whose going to replace him at Dior. Some of fashion’s elite such as Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Riccardo Tisci were a huge topic of discussion. Some of the designer wanted a larger sum of money, and others declined the offer. The speculations were like a soap opera because we all were anxious to see what’s going to happen next. All good gossip starts to come to a close with their final decision. The more likely candidate happens to be no other than Raf Simons.
Raf Simons is one of the premeire innovators in the fashion industry. He is widely known for his minimalist aesthetic at Jil Sander and his own label, Raf Simons (along with his diffusion line, Raf by Raf Simons). He is a visionary has been quite rebellious because he happens to follow his own lead opposed to being trendy (talk about a risk taker). As we all know, there has been no one to disagree with his approach as his work continues to improve since his arrival at Jil Sander in 2005. Right now, He is still working at Jil Sander, which raises the question how fast are will they seek to finalize the approval to the house of Dior. With fashion week coming up in a couple months, there are alot of expectations heavily on the line. The shifting from one fashion house to another is exhausting, but I am sure this is going to work out great.
In order for Dior to provide a clean slate, this is exactly what they need! Throughout the years, John Galliano has brought us the noir-theatrical emphasis of the Victorian era designs while Raf Simons delivers a futuristic minimal approach. If you have notice, there are totally different concepts. Talk about out with the old (nostalgia) and in with the win (futuristic).
It has been reported the creative fashion/style genius, Tom Ford will be responsible for the luxurious ensemble for the latest James Bond film, “Skyfall“. Recently discovered Ford was also credited for the Daniel Craig‘s look in “Quantum of Solace” (why wasn’t I surprised). With his recent documentary with Oprah and returning designing for womenswear last year, I am thrilled to see what the looks are gonna be! Nothing less than extraordinary!
Jon Kortajarena, One of the leading male models in the fashion industry has returned as the leading campaigning in Tom Ford. I must admit Jon does represent the brand pretty well equivalant to David Gandy in Dolce and Gabbana or Trey Songz in Rocawear.
I guess I did spoke too soon about Beyonce in that previous blog post, but there was never any shade. The images before you are in the latest editorial for Vogue Italia. These images of the goddess has been gone completely viral. Dressed in luxuroious Furs and of course, Tom Ford, Bey delivers in everything she does. I can’t deny it, but its true. A little bit too damn easy.
Due to the fact, the images are black and white has made me love the spread even more! Each individual look has its own distinctive essence. Hate it or love it, she’s gonna run it like no other!
Tom Ford has proved to the fashion world that this world just want to be sexy (who doesn’t?!) It certainly helped one of the most iconic Fashion house damn near bankrupt to worth over 10 Billion dollars in 2004.. Not bad, but departing from Gucci for close to a decade never dilluted his vision and it shows!
There has been hella speculation that Lanvin’s designer Alber Elbaz will be leaving them for Parisian fashion house, Dior. With John Galliano out of the picture, this is going to be some talk if this is really confirmed. Ironically once I heard about the speculation about Hedi Slimane and Stefano Pilati, the thought of Lanvin trying to maintain the leash on Elbaz (no pun intended). After all Elbaz has performed remarkable collections (also the viral collaboration for H&M in 2010), which make this label to be one of the best out there!! If he does leave there will be the equivalent to Tom Ford leaving Gucci.
